    will make a lasting contribution to the quality of life of Diepsloot residents The 20m high structures are just part of a programme to improve service delivery to the township situated north of Johannesburg The objective of what is known as the Tanganani pedestrian bridge project is to construct two pedestrian bridges across William Nicol Drive to link the existing Diepsloot on the west with the proposed new Tanganani residential development on the east The project is valued at R52 million The bridges comprise two 70m deck spans with centre columns reaching a height of 18m The decks are in situ concrete and are supported by three sets of double columns and one concaved shaped pier The columns and wings are shaped in elevation and in plan and have a fluted finish on the outside faces The centre column represents the wings of a bird taking flight and the bridges will be finished off by specially designed light boxes Esor is also proud to be participating in a host of other improvements in the area These include the installation of internal infrastructure involvement in the delivery of more than 9 000 housing units across a range of specifications and prices the development of two business sites and the construction of a 500m bridge across a wetland area We hope to begin work on internal services by March next year and the first houses are scheduled to be handed over in 2016 Diepsloot has been identified as one of Johannesburg s major priorities in respect of urban service delivery and with its allocated budget of more than R1 5 billion local residents should expect some visible improvements over the next few months Other initiatives will be two primary schools a high school and a 24 hour healthcare centre Following the completion

    both of which will keep us firmly in the public eye The first is for the refurbishment of the Airports Company of South Africa s East and West offices located at OR Tambo International Airport The 10 month project valued at R65 million will be completed in conjunction with Shabangu Architects and involves the refurbishment of 4 500m² of office space It also caters for the demolition of work areas and ablution blocks and the building of replacement spaces and facilities The greater part of the work will be in the form of soft finishes including ceilings partitions shop fronts tiling and paintwork There will also be major heating ventilation and air conditioning electrical work and fire upgrades The major challenge in this project is that work must be completed without disruption to essential services that could affect the entire airport The second contract involves the upgrade of the Es kia Mphahlele building at Unisa s Sunnyside campus in Pretoria The R20 million project calls for work specified by HMZ Architects and includes the construction of four new ablution blocks and improvements to the building s exterior involving the provision of new sunscreens and louvers In addition the contract includes

    Esor has been awarded the contract for the largest stretch of pipeline which will extend 25kms from Ashley Drive to the NR 5 reservoir at Ntuzuma Work has already commenced on three sites namely Kloof KwaDukuza and Ntuzuma In the meantime the eThekwini Municipality has announced that Esor will also be responsible for an additional contract as part of the Northern Aqueduct augmentation project The R92 million project will involve the laying of 6 2km of DN 1 200mm continuously welded steel pipeline from Duffs Road to the Phoenix 2 reservoir with a 0 5km DN 600mm steel offtake to the Phoenix 1 reservoir more 2014 Pipelines division keeps Thukela project flowing Our pipelines division is currently engaged in a large project awarded by state owned utility Umgeni Water The development forms part of the Lower Thukela Bulk Water Supply Scheme that will meet the water needs of an ever growing local population by enlarging the utility s bulk water infrastructure along the KwaZulu Natal north coast The contract involves the installation of a 29km length of DN900 continuously welded steel pipeline with thicknesses varying between 6mm and 7mm between the Command reservoir near Mandeni and the Mvoti reservoir at KwaDukuza Stanger Work on the pipeline is already at an advanced stage having commenced at Mvoti and has already passed through KwaDukuza and Darnall with the Command reservoir nearly in sight Technical challenges for the Esor team will be the crossing of the Nonoti river using the existing road bridge as well as the fact that the pipeline traverses services like power lines fibre optic cables and water and sewage pipes Eight pipejacks are also being constructed beneath major roads and operational railway lines Additional work in the contract are the connection of the pipeline into the Mvoti reservoir the

    to project manager Anton Naudé each tunnel is 4 9 metres high and 2 7 metres wide while the tunnel under Lavender Road is 40m in length supported by no fewer than 32 precast concrete structures weighing 11 tonnes each A hydraulic jack was used to push each structure into the tunnel which is wide enough to accommodate two small cars side by side A significant feature of the project was that the pipeline was laid without any disruption of traffic on the city s main arteries he says The pipeline is a key component of Pretoria s 50 year development project and will supply water to Rainbow Junction and other industrial and residential growth areas to the north of the city The R130 million project began in 2013 and is scheduled for completion in 2015 more 2014 Esor Pipejacking called in to tricky pipeline project Esor Pipejacking is acting as sub contractor in a project involving a search for a pilot hole used in the laying of a Sasol gas pipeline The horizontal directional drilling pilot hole had been made by a previous contractor as part of the deviation of the existing 8 Uncle Charlie s to Lawley pipeline where the conduit crosses under the Klipriver near Nancefield Johannesburg The pilot hole was found to be in very close proximity to the southern bank of the river and the main contractor Frontier Pipe Lines Pty has enlisted Esor s assistance in exposing the pilot hole The existing hole will be reamed and the steel gas pipeline installed along the remaining length of the drill path Esor s task in locating the hole is by no means easy It lies approximately 12m below ground and only 14m from the river bank The first decision was to sink a 12m deep

  • Kusile Power Station | Esor
    of drainage systems and high pressure fire and water supply piping in a range of diameters from 150mm to 630mm for pressure lines and up to 2500mm for bulk stormwater lines The total meterage to be installed in the contract period is in the order of 50 km of networked pipe The balance of the contract is made up of the installation of 2 HDPE lined Holding Recycle Dams and 10 Km of insitu concrete networked Cable and Pipe Tunnels Esorfranki employs over 750 laborers on this contract with an estimated completion in late 2015 The Contract value is in the order of R700m with Esorfranki being 65 complete to date In August 2011 Esorfranki were approached by Eskom to tender for the General Service piping contract at Kusile Power Station which consisted of all the interface piping between the bulk supply systems and the terminations to the buildings on the power block The Contract was awarded to Esorfranki in February 2012 with a mobilization date in April 2012 The Contract value is in the order of R340m with an estimated completion date of April 2015 A major element to the construction is the daily interfacing with the other Contractors on site for access and completion dates The Contract is 70 complete to date and is progressing very well with little to no comebacks on pressure testing of the networks Esorfranki together with their local JV partner Masibuyisane Services embarked on the P29 Rock crushing contract in July of 2013 The Contract initially was to crush 537 000 cubes of spoil material to make a G7 8 sub 100 mm product in 6 months The contract was extended for a further 1 5 million cubes with an estimated completion in June 2014 Esorfranki s Metso LT120 and LT110 Jaw Crushers

    Project close to Burgersfort by LWUA Lebalelo Water User Association with a value of R25 2 million The contract comprises the construction of 40 air valve chambers and the upgrading of a 300 meter road in the Limpopo Province close to Burgersfort Esor will construct the new chambers stretching over a distance of about 15 km with some of them over 4 meters deep Construction commenced on the 15th March
