    Interim Results Investor Alerts Presentations Sens Shareholders Diary News Careers Contact Us 1 2 3 4 5 Corporate Social Responsibility Esor supports sustainable social development and upliftment with a particular focus on education in the science and engineering fields During 2015 16 we spent R0 3 million on supporting and uplifting the communities in which we operate One of these projects was the refurbishment of community flats in Ackerville Witbank and the upgrade of their water drainage infrastructure This was completed in conjunction with local contractor Siyasebenza Community Esor provided the supervision materials and PPE while Siyasebenza provided the labour Two blocks of flats were repainted and refurbished with new doors window panes and rainwater goods The storm water upgrade included new kerbs a concrete apron surrounding the flats concrete lined drains and a retaining wall With this upgrade residents no longer have to contend with excessive flooding from storm water damaging their furniture and flats In providing the supervision and mentoring Esor also ensured the transfer of skills to the local labour provided by Siyasebenza for more long term benefit Share Price Registered Office Tel 27 11 776 8700 Fax 27 11 822 1158 Physical 30 Activia Road Activia

    2 3 4 5 Employee Wellness Our people are the lifeblood of our group In the restructure and consolidation of the business over the past two years we have always remained cognisant of their commitment and sheer hard work which drive the group s continued sustainability We employed a total of 2 400 people for the year of which 929 were permanent employees and 1 471 LDCs HIV AIDS Esor acknowledges the impact of the HIV AIDS pandemic in South Africa and accordingly has a formal policy ensuring the fair ethical and equitable treatment of employees living with HIV AIDS The group s HIV AIDS policy demands confidentiality of the employee s status should HIV positive employee volunteer status information the relevant managers are appropriately briefed and informed to enable them to manage the situation Employees are encouraged to seek medical treatment counselling ongoing testing and assistance from support groups A proactive HIV AIDS workplace programme is in place which includes education and awareness projects to address questions in respect of HIV AIDS ranging across prevention and infection to treatment voluntary and confidential pre employment and during employment testing and support for infected employees Share Price Registered Office Tel 27

    all times and that there are no shortcuts Our aim is to create a culture where every employee understands the importance of working safely and can go home safe and healthy to their family after every shift We believe that a safe site is a productive site and that safety and production go hand in hand SHEQ managers are in place in the two regions of Coastal and Inland and each site has a qualified H S Officer The regional SHEQ managers and group SHEQ manager conduct regular site visits Quarterly compliance audits are conducted on all sites to ensure SHEQ compliance There is one health and safety representative for every 50 employees Although the LTIFR rate reached 0 56 at times during the year we ended the year with an improved rate of 0 47 Esor holds the following safety quality and environmental accreditations ISO 14001 2004 ISO 9001 2008 ISO 18001 2007 and external audits are performed accordingly A number of external audits on health and safety as well as the environment were conducted during the year with the group achieving compliance scores ranging from 88 79 to 99 00 with the majority being above 98 which is on par or above industry norms Corrective action has been taken to address all areas of non compliance Formal SHE policies are in place and are reviewed biannually and whenever changes in legislation occur We ensure strict compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act 85 of 1993 and the National Environmental Management Act The Group SHEQ Manager is responsible for ensuring policies are adhered to across the group supported by the Inland and Coastal SHEQ Managers and site safety officers We have a structured risk based approach to safety and a detailed risk assessment is undertaken for each product

    A key strategic aspect of the group s organisational growth is career advancement from within The focus in this regard is growing the internal skills pool The group is committed to continually enhancing the skills base and facilitate advancement of employees and makes specific efforts to assist the progress of employees from previously disadvantaged groups Ongoing internal technical skills development is provided through classroom personal mentoring and on the job training as well as through learnerships and apprenticeships The following study schemes have been made available The Esor bursary schemes In house further study schemes In house Esor bursary schemes Total spend amounted to R3 3 million for the 2015 16 financial year In total 14 employees all of whom were black and five of whom were women benefited from the bursary scheme during the year Bursaries to the value of R1 9 million were awarded for a range of degree areas including civil engineering mechanical engineering information technology quantity surveying building sciences and construction management In addition training conducted during the year took the form of learnerships internships work integrated learning informal external training mentorship programmes and peer to peer training A total of 107 permanent employees participated during
