on 336 points both from Canada and third place to Ireland s Alan Wilton South African s senior member Raymond Graaf had to retire when he tore a ligament in his wrist trying to wrestle a ball out the rough He was within the top seven when he got injured All in all 16 countries and 164 players took part in the tournament from all corners of the globe The 2012 Competition will be held in Japan followed by USA in 2014 Although the event was a huge success for me the results came out to slow making it almost impossible to update all the folk at home as the days were so busy as I was caddying for my wife and on some days a round took over six hours to complete leaving me utterly exhausted every day and no time to send reports as functions kept us up till late at night So all in all the Ladies in The South African team fared better then their male counterparts who have dominated the Championship in recent years but they all struggled on the links course the wind and the rain Torrance course rewards players if they stay on the fairways but is very cruel to wayward shots Now it s time to focus on Japan in two years time and hopefully we will make the trip again A huge thanks to the Lotto for funding the trip for the SA players making them one of the most professional and well dressed team and making them the most talked about team By Nick Klichowicz Posted in news WDGC Comments Off SA Deaf Golf Championship 2011 Posted on 13 October 2010 by jerryhatrick 9th May 2011 Langebaan Country Club In conjunction with the South African Disabled Golf association The greatest game ever played deserves a course to match The legendary Gary Player s Black Knight Design was charged with turning Langebaan Country Estate s golf course into a high quality yet truly testing layout and the result is an incontestable success The course has more than a hint of Player s design philosophy with well positioned bunkers and his typical routing for all levels of golfers Throw in some amazing natural rock formations the large water feature separating the 10th and 18th fairways and the natural wild flowers birdlife and a variety of buck species and it is clear that Langebaan Country Estate is only one growing season away from becoming a course that will stand out as an unforgettable experience This spectacular course plays 6359m from the championship tees 5826m to 6071m from the club and senior tees and 5202m from the ladies tees with an overall course rating of 81 The course drains extremely well making it playable all year round unlike many of the Western Cape s golf courses Schedule of Events Sun 8th May Arrival Practice Round for 1st 60 to enter 15h00 18h00 Compulsory Registration at Langebaan Country Estate 18h30 Pre Tournament Dinner in the
