Botswana where more than 40 species may be hunted legally It is important to know that not all species occur in the same area these may be divided geographically by hundreds of miles consequently depending on the species you wish to hunt you may need to access more than one hunting area to achieve this As a generalization individual hunting areas usually have about ten different species which naturally occur there these may inhabit steep mountainous terrain open grasslands valley bushveld or dense coastal forest Most clients who are new to African hunting are usually encouraged to undertake a 7 10 day plains game safari in one select area so to afford them the wonderful opportunity of hunting a wide variety of species without spending valuable time travelling between areas Some clients choose to combine more than one hunting area to access more or different species here it is important to consider travelling time consequently these hunts are usually 12 14 days Lastly the more specialised hunts for particular species such as Leopard Sable or Elephant are usually 14 days or more Irrespective of what animals we hunt for this is a personalized professional service I am committed to taking

nature Ask yourself Why does a sunset afford us such a sense of peace after a hard day s work why do we feel so intrigued awe struck by the perfect beauty of an uncommon reclusive wild animal One has to acknowledge the profound therapeutic effect that these simple things have on our lives perhaps the reason for this lies right before us in that today we live from day to day without seeing or recognising our fundamental roots where all these things make perfect sense to us For many people today unfortunately through our own doing we live in a world which is becoming increasingly more complicated and consequently we suffer the ultimate price of stress pressure confusion and exhaustion to name but a few negatives We have all witnessed to the debilitating effects of modern society on individuals and society at large this could be as a result of confusion that is derived from human complexity where very little really needs to makes any sense to us anymore So too the complexity of the modern world has gradually drawn us away from the fundamental truths illustrated to us by natural things In stark contrast to our confused world in nature one encounters balance equilibrium wholeness where an immense variation of animals trees sounds smells textures are the true colours of all creation it all makes sense Dr Ian Player a well known South African conservationist once wrote Everything I have achieved in my own live I owe to the wilderness experience I have seen countless other lives moulded and changes by encounters with wilderness in most cases only a few days in the wilderness has been long enough to change a live of despair to a life of hope This observation is well documented in the field of

I will try to explain Firstly I think that it represents a challenge because it is not that easy when you start Secondly I think that it has something to do with the direct connectedness that you have with the striking fish as you retrieve the line with your hands thirdly I feel that it holds your attention because you have to hunt your fish carefully compared with other forms of fishing simply because we cannot cast that far Lastly I feel sorry for my friends who I see staggering along a beach under the weight of the tree trunks winches they carry not to mention that sometimes I see that they employ someone else to carry back packs full of lead weights aromatic concoctions as baits which soon turn into a necrotic soup No sir that is not for me as I much prefer to quietly stroll along a beautiful uninhabited beach with a fly rod that weighs nothing a couple of simple flies a few spare leaders a stripping basket This way I feel free to enjoy this gentle art to its fullest I can walk to my heart s content hunting fishes instead of feeling like I have been on a military route march To each his own I guess Today as I sit back reflect on when I began fly fishing in the ocean I realise something else I remember reading books speaking to people who were supposed to know all about this sport At that time I felt so clueless uninformed that I almost gave up before I even started What nonsense this is not an elitist thing anyone can learn how to enjoy this wonderful sport once you have sifted through all the nonsense apply a little common sense So it is my intention
