    Reedbuck Common reedbuck have proportionally longer necks and bodies than other species of antelope Reedbuck are typically hunted in marshy areas in the Eastern Cape and eastern Free State Eland Eland are extraordinarily large antelope The common eland is second in size only to its northern cousin the giant eland Eland bulls average at a shoulder height of 1 7m and 700kg in weight Gemsbok The magnificent gemsbok or giant oryx is one of the most spectacular antelope trophies that can be hunted in southern Africa Its exceptional tall horns and beautiful painted face makes it a sought after target Giraffe The world s tallest land mammal can also be hunted on safari in South Africa Hunting giraffe is typically done by spot and stalk but they also have a very distinctive spoor Though docile in nature giraffe may become quite aggressive when threatened Grey Rhebuck Grey rhebuck are distinguished by their thick woolly coat Early morning and late afternoon may be the best time to hunt these medium sized antelope as they tend to lay down in the heat of the afternoon Impala Impala are particularly easy to find as they never stray far from water and occur in large herds throughout most of Southern Africa Most hunters will typically leave the continent having hunted an impala Jackal While hunting a specific game species hunters may often stumble across a black backed jackal or side striped jackal by chance Many farms encourage jackal hunting to keep their numbers under control Kudu Kudu are among the most sought after antelope to hunt on a safari in Southern Africa Their spectacular spiral horns and beautiful features make for noteworthy trophies Lechwe Red Lechwe can be hunted in the Free State and Eastern Cape in South Africa They are typically found along floodplains swamps and rivers Expect to get your feet wet when hunting the red lechwe Mountain Reedbuck Though similar in size the mountain reedbuck has slightly shorter horns than his southern counterpart This medium sized antelope may be difficult to approach on the mountainous slopes it calls home which may thus call for a longer shot Nyala Nyala form the dividing line between smaller plains game species referred to as rams and ewes and larger species distinguished as bulls and cows While nyala males are called bulls nyala females are ewes Ostrich Ostrich can be hunted throughout most of South Africa Male ostriches are preferred as trophies for their stark black feathers and marginally larger size They are typically taller than 2m and weigh around 150kg Red Hartebeest Red hartebeest are reputed to be the fastest antelope often reaching speeds of up to 100km h Their unique horns have earned them the nickname the Harley Davidson among hunters Roan Antelope Roan antelope typically reach between 130 and 140cm at shoulder height and boast curved horns that sweep back They are found in sub tropical grasslands and shrublands Sable Antelope Though sable antelope are more indigenous to south eastern Africa most

    conditions prior to the starting date of your safari Our success rate is very close to 100 In all cases the camps and lodges we use are luxurious with en suite bathrooms electricity stylish decor and sumptuous food places where a lady would feel at home and comfortable Each of the camps and lodges we use feature on our website in the areas and camps section We can provide an extensive list of references in your area who have hunted with us and who can bear testimony to the quality of accommodation A typical day on safari Hunters A typical hunting day starts just before dawn at which time coffee and rusks are enjoyed A selection of breakfast cereals yogurt and juice is also available at this time We then embark on the morning hunt We normally hunt until about 11 00 at which time we return to the camp for brunch a full meal which is a combination of breakfast and lunch Some time is then devoted to relaxing in the camp The hunt is resumes at about 14 30 and continues until sunset The method of hunting employed depends on the preference of the client and can consist of either walking and stalking or hunting from blinds or special vantage points from which we glass and ambush animals The option of hunting from one of our well equipped vehicles is also available should you have any medical problems or are limited by not being able to walk long distances Your Professional Hunter will discuss these options with you after arrival All of these options are always available It is not necessary to let us know which method you prefer prior to your arrival Observers Observers are welcome to accompany the hunters on safari or relax in the camp Should the observers in your group be interested in visiting some of the highlights in the area while the hunters are in the field this can be arranged at an additional charge of 80 per observer per day The additional cost is incurred as we need to send a dedicated guide to attend to the observers On a typical safari observers normally prefer to accompany hunters which does not incur any additional charges Hunting Package Itinerary Day 1 Arrival Kalahari Guests are met upon arrival at OR Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg by their professional hunter or hunters From here they are transferred to a regional airport for a charter flight of about an hour and a half to the Kalahari The cost of the charter flight is included in the package price The late afternoon is devoted to the sighting of rifles before commencing with the lion hunt on the following morning Overnight Kalahari Camps Lodges Meals Full Board Day 2 3 Hunting Kalahari The area is very sparsely populated with a prevalent sense of quiet vastness The distance from the closest cities or towns ensures that very little light pollution occurs which make it one of the best
